Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
TULSA, Oklahoma (January 13) - A big third period sealed the deal for the Brahmas Sunday afternoon, as Fort Worth defeated the Tulsa Oilers by the score of 6-2 at the BOK Center.
Ryan Cramer gave the Oilers the first lead of the game just 3:14 into the first period as he put back a rebound on a Tulsa powerplay.
The Brahmas even the score at one goal apiece before the period concluded though when Greg Eskedjian took a feed from Austin Mayer and buried it past Tulsa netminder Shane Madolora at 14:31. For Eskedjian, the score was his second in as many nights after notching the game-winner in overtime Saturday versus the Allen Americans.
Tomas Klempa broke the tie at 14:09 of the second period as he put a shot on net from the right faceoff circle that found its way into the back of the net.
Mike Ullrich knotted the score up at 2-2 at 17:28, finishing a loose puck in front of the Brahmas' net after a Cramer wrister was pushed wide.
Just 14 seconds later though, John Snowden regained the lead for Fort Worth as he received a feed from Chad Woollard in the slot and buried it.
The Brahmas entered the third period with a 3-2 lead and the team extended that edge with an offensive explosion in the last six minutes of regulation. Adam Hogg notched a shorthanded goal after Calin Wild led a 2-on-1 break. Only two minutes later, Snowden scored his second of the game and ninth in the last five games to extend the Fort Worth advantage to 5-2. For Snowden, the two-goal night gives him five consecutive multi-point performances and 12 points total over that span.
Wild added yet another score for the Brahmas for good measure at the 16:27 mark of the third period.
The Brahmas were 0-for-4 on the powerplay Sunday, but did net their fifth shorthanded goal of the season. The Oilers were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
Kristofer Westblom (11-5-2) made 24 saves on 26 shots to pick up his third win in three nights between the posts for Fort Worth. Madolora stopped 30 of 36 shots in a losing effort.
The Brahmas continue their road trip Friday, January 18 and Saturday, January 19 when the team faces the Quad City Mallards and the Bloomington Blaze on back-to-back nights. The team returns to the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday, January 25 at 7:30pm to host the Blaze for the second consecutive meeting between the two teams.
The Brahmas have reduced individual ticket prices, as well as lowering the price of full-season, half-season and 11-game ticket packages for the 2012-2013 season. For more ticket information, please contact a Brahmas sales representative at 817-336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
