Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK- The Central Hockey League announced today that all CHL arenas will be required to install safety netting at the corners and end zones of their venues. The netting will be installed in an effort to increase fan safety during all games.

The height and design of the netting configuration may vary due to the structural differences from venue to venue, but should be of sufficient dimension to reduce the incidence of pucks entering the spectator areas in the corners and end zones of their rinks.

"We have to put the safety of our fans first, and by putting the netting up, we are hoping to avoid a repeat of the tragedy that occurred last year in the National Hockey League," said Corey MacIntyre, Tulsa Oilers general manager.

The Oilers begin the 2002-2003 season on Friday, October 18th in Indianapolis against the Ice. Their home schedule begins the following weekend with games on October 25th and 26th against the Ice and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs respectively.
