Arizona Sundogs News Release

TULSA, OK - The Arizona Sundogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, but the Tulsa Oilers rallied back with four unanswered goals to take a 4-3 win in regulation on Friday night at the BOK Center.

It was Tulsa's third win over the Sundogs in four total meetings this season. All three of the Oilers victories came by the same final score and all four games in the season series were decided by one goal.

Gary Steffes was credited with the game-winner when a centering pass deflected off his skate and into the net with 3:03 remaining the second period. It was the second goal of the game for Steffes and capped off a three-point night to lead all skaters.

Steve Christie was the catalyst for the Tulsa comeback after replacing starter Ian Keserich late in the first period and going a perfect 18 of18 in net the rest of the way.

Michel Beausoleil at 11:09 and Tyler Fleck at 12:54 also scored in the second period for the Oilers.

Arizona took early control of the contest after a three-goal first period. Nathan O'Nabigon opened up the game's scoring 2:52 in off Luke Erickson's centering pass. Erickson then made it a 2-0 lead with 3:53 to play and Kyle Hood's one-timer from the left circle 17 seconds later extended things. Steffes put Tulsa on the board with just over a minute left.

Neither team scored a power play goal despite three chances for the Sundogs and four for the Oilers.

Scott Reid took the loss with 23 saves.

The Sundogs wrap up the final leg of their road trip Saturday and Sunday with game in Wichita against the Thunder. Saturday's contest is set for a 5:05 PM MST start and the action can be heard live on Cattle Country 94.3 FM.
