Oilers Acquire Barlock from Brahmas

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers announced today that they have completed a trade with the Fort Worth Brahmas that sends defenseman Ryan Barlock to Tulsa in exchange for future considerations.

Barlock, a 6-1, 185-pound rookie, suited up in six games this season for the Brahmas and recorded zero points along with four penalty minutes . The 25-year old was placed on 14-day IR on October 28 and moved to 30-day IR on December 13. Before starting his pro career this season, Barlock spent four productive years at Division III Curry College (ECAC) in Massachusetts. During his senior campaign with the Colonels, Barlock led the team in points (40), assists (29) and penalty minutes (92).

"Ryan is a tough kid who will bring some grit to our team but he's also a skilled player who can contribute offensively," said Bruce Ramsay, Oilers Head Coach. "In the midst of this current losing streak, I'm trying to do everything I can to make our team better and the addition of Ryan is certainly a step in that direction."

Barlock adds depth to a Tulsa defense corp that has struggled for consistency this season. The Oilers have allowed more goals than any other team in the CHL and have a league worst -36 goal differential.

A native of Niles, Illinois, Barlock played three seasons of junior hockey for the Capital District Selects of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and also spent 17 games with the Springfield Junior Blues (NAHL) during the 2006 -07 season.

The Oilers will try to snap a six-game losing streak when they visit Quad City for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. Tulsa is 1-1-1 against the Mallards this season and both contests are set for 7:05 p.m. at i wireless Arena in Moline, Illinois.
