Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Saskatoon, SK - The Edmonton Oil Kings started the Saskatchewan-leg of their five-game road trip with a 4-0 loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday night.

The Blades jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Brandon Lisowsky just 6:41 into the game after he was setup for a backdoor re-direct from Aidan De La Gorgendiere.

The Blades would hold the Oil Kings to just six shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes as they maintained their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Oil Kings best look of the period came off the stick of Gavin Hodnett after he was setup for a one-timer in the slot by Loick Daigle on a 3-on-1 rush, but Saskatoon netminder Ethan Chadwick was just able to get a piece of the blast with his left-pad.

Just 3:29 into the second period, the Blades doubled their lead after Lukas Hansen took a pass from Conner Roulette in the slot of the Oil Kings' zone and ripped a shot top corner.

The Blades would again increase their lead late in the second period after Roulette connected with Egor Sidorov on a 2-on-1 rush into the Edmonton zone for the Saskatoon import forward's 30th goal of the season.

In the third period, the Blades added one more goal off the stick of Charlie Wright while Chadwick steered aside all seven Edmonton shots to record the clean sheet in the Saskatoon cage.

Kolby Hay finished the night making 40 saves for the Oil Kings, Chadwick made 21 for the Blades. Edmonton went 0-for-3 on the power play, Saskatoon was 0-for-2.

Next up, the Oil Kings continue their East Division road trip tomorrow night in Moose Jaw when they take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. MT.

The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is Saturday, February 18 when they take on the Calgary Hitmen at 7:00 p.m.
