May 10, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Ontario Hockey League Championship Series is all tied up a 2-2 after the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defeated the Bulldogs 3-2 in overtime Wednesday night in front of 8,603 fans at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.
Not a good start for the Bulldogs as the Greyhounds opened the scoring just 34-seconds into the 1st period. Hamilton got stronger as the period went on and got a break as Nicholas Caamano (8) scored short-handed at 17:37 to make it 1-1.
The Soo got the only goal of the 2nd period to take a 2-1 lead, so the Bulldogs would need at 3rd period comeback. The Greyhounds hit two posts and a crossbar early in the 3rd, but it was Hamilton's Riley Stillman (4) who got a point shot through at 9:12 to send the game to overtime.
Both teams had chance early in OT, but goalies Kaden Fulcher and Matthew Villalta both made huge saves to keep their teams alive. The Greyhounds got a break when Matthew Strome lost an edge at his own blueline that allowed Noah Carroll to move in on a breakaway and score the game winner at 9:13 of overtime.
3 STARS:
1) Noah Carroll (SSM) 2) Matthew Villalta (SSM) 3) Kaden Fulcher (HAM)
Game 5 goes Friday night in Sault Ste. Marie with Game 6 back at FirstOntario Centre on Sunday May 13th at 2 pm.
