Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, MD - The Bowie Baysox are searching for the most talented members of the community to complement one of the best teams in minor league baseball. The Baysox will host live auditions for the national anthem at Prince George's Stadium on Saturday, March 14. The team has a live performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before every game at Prince George's Stadium.
Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser is looking forward to this year's auditions. "We are really excited to host national anthem auditions at the ballpark again this year. It is a tremendous thrill to hear area fans take the mic and showcase their talent, and we love giving them the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of fans at each game."
Gates will open for registration at 9:00 a.m. and auditions will begin at 9:30 a.m. Every participant must register, and auditions will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. The auditions will be held rain or shine and reservations for audition times will not be accepted. All auditions must be done in person, no CD's, cassettes or videos will be accepted for review. Last year, 53 people auditioned to sing the national anthem.
Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye has been a part of the auditions for years. "The national anthem is an integral part of baseball, and the Baysox take great pride in being able to involve local talent in an American tradition."
The Baysox will open their 17th season as the class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, April 8, in Akron. The team will play its first game back home at Prince George's Stadium on Thursday, April 16. Don't miss a moment of the action as the Baysox attempt to bring home their first Eastern League championship in 2009! Ticket packages are available now at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox ticket sales department at (301) 464-4880.
