Chicago Wolves News Release
CHICAGO, June 11, 2003 â It may be hockey's off-season, but American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves are hard at work, announcing Ogilvy Chicago as the agency of record, working with the Wolves' in-house marketing team.
"We are a team and an organization that continually strives to take our brand to the next level â on and off the ice," said Don Levin, Chairman of the Board, Chicago Wolves. "As we approach our tenth season, we're taking our brand message to a higher level. Our noses are to the grindstone over the next several months as we prepare to unleash an even more memorable message. Stay tuned for a new howl."
Ogilvy Chicago will produce all facets of the Wolves' marketing communications, including television, print, on-line and one-to-one advertising and public relations. The assignment utilizes the general agency, Ogilvy & Mather, as well as one-to-one marketing leader OgilvyOne.
"We are thrilled to partner with such a strong sports brand in Chicago," said Linda Garrison, co-managing director, Ogilvy Chicago. "The Wolves are a team and organization with a winning tradition, unique personality and strong corporate citizenship. We will help craft a message of championship, value and quality entertainment."
The Chicago Wolves launched in 1994 as part of the International Hockey League (IHL.) The team captured the 2000 and 1998 Turner Cup before joining the American Hockey League (AHL.) In 2002, the Wolves took the Calder Cup. In nine seasons of play, the Wolves have won the championship a remarkable three times.
With the strength of big-league cities like Philadelphia, Houston, Salt Lake City, Cleveland, and Chicago, the AHL draws more than five million fans each year.
About the Chicago Wolves:
A new era of championship hockey began in Chicago with the drop of a puck in the Fall of 1994. Nearly 10 years later, the Chicago Wolves continue to bring first-class entertainment to millions.
The Wolves have made their mark in not one, but two different leagues. After capturing a pair of International Hockey League crowns, the Wolves entered the historic American Hockey League, taking a Calder Cup title in 2002 before the second-largest crowd in AHL Playoff history.
