Offensive Lineman Austin Myers Signs with CFL
February 13, 2024 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Bay Area Panthers News Release
The Panthers organization prides itself in creating opportunities for players to develop in a winning environment. The latest to advance is offensive lineman Austin Myers who has signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League.
"Austin signing with the CFL is a great example of the ongoing drive and push to climb to the highest level of sport possible," said Bay Area Head Coach Rob Keefe. "He knew signing with us would highlight his desire to continue to play so he would be noticed."
The announcement comes less than week from Myer's introduction to the Bay Area fans on Feb. 8.
"I train with a guy who has been in the CFL for a few years," said Myers. "He gave me a great recommendation and after a couple phone calls, one thing led to another. It happened so fast."
Before signing with the Panthers, Myers played in college at Memphis after starting his career at TCU. Since college, Myers was in minicamp with the New York Giants and had made contacts with the USFL and CFL.
"It's a testament to a system that is proven to work, year in and year out. The Bay Area Panthers sign quality talent and our talent gets noticed. We are proud of him and wish him great success on his journey," said Keefe.
