Offensive Explosion Powers Augusta to Extra-Inning Win

Kannapolis, NC - The Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) erupted for six runs in the 10th inning on Tuesday night, picking up a road win over the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox). Kannapolis (12-8) had come back to tie the game late, but Augusta (8-13) had their biggest offensive inning of the year to take the 11-7 victory.
The GreenJackets fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but tied the game in the third on Jair Casanova's first home run of the season. Then, the GreenJackets added two more runs in the fourth courtesy of Jeremy Celedonio's fourth homer, a tape-measure blast that measured 440 feet. Cedric De Grandpré was stellar as the starter, as he went four innings of one-run baseball. The Cannon Ballers would take a 4-3 lead, scoring three in the bottom of the fifth off of Adam Shoemaker, but sixth-inning RBIs for Dawson Dimon and Jair Casanova restored the Augusta lead.
Elison Joseph (H, 2) entered in the bottom of the sixth, and went two scoreless innings. Landon Harper (W, 2-0, BS, 2) came in for the eighth inning, and gave up an eighth inning double to tie the game at 5-5. With both teams scoreless in the 9th, the GreenJackets scored six runs in the top of the tenth. Justin Janas, Ethan Workinger, Dawson Dimon, and E.J. Exposito each drove in runs, with Jair Casanova capping his day off with a two-run single to conclude the damage. Kannapolis' Billy Seidl (L, 1-1) had previously been 100% on save opportunities. The GreenJackets' 11 runs was a season high.
Tomorrow, Augusta takes on Kannapolis at 11:00 AM. Seth Keller is expected to make the start for the GreenJackets.
