JUPITER, FL - The Hammerheads offense could never come through on Saturday as the team left a season-high 11 men on base in a 5-3 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Jupiter did not lead in the game although the team had a prime opportunity to tie the game in the ninth inning off of Kevin Brandt.

With the Hammerheads trailing by a pair Cameron Flynn led off the ninth with a double to deep center field and Ed Lucas followed by pulling a single into the hole between third and short.

Brandt then got Colin Moran to strike out before he uncorked a wild pitch which allowed Lucas to move into scoring position. But Brandt would get out of the jam when he got Viosergy Rosa to pop up before striking out Matt Juengel to end the ballgame.

Jupiter managed eight hits on the night, four of which came off the bat of Lucas who continues to look good during his rehab stint with the Hammerheads. All four of Lucas' hits were singles including a single that plated Cameron Flynn with Jupiter's first run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Stone Crabs would break a 1-1 tie in the third inning when Patrick Leonard drove home Andrew Toles with a double.

Charlotte would pick up another run in the fourth Marty Gantt hit a sac fly that plated Thomas Coyle.

The Stone Crabs would add to the lead in the sixth when an error by Juengel allowed Kes Carter to score.

Jupiter would get a pair back in the bottom of the sixth when Alonzo Harris drew a bases loaded walk and Flynn drove home a run when he reached on an infield single up the middle.

The Stone Crabs wouldn't take long to strike back as Toles led the top of the seventh with a single and later scored when Leonardo Reginatto slapped a single into right.

Josh Hodges ended up getting the loss for Jupiter although he didn't pitch badly. He allowed four runs, only two of which were earned, on six hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Roberto Gomez picked up his first win of the season for the Stone Crabs after he limited the Hammerheads to three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work.

Jupiter and Charlotte will play the rubber match of their series on Sunday. The teams will play day baseball as first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
