Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (8-4) met Daytona (5-7) in game three of their six-game
series at LECOM Park on Thursday night with 1,128 fans on hand. The game would feature just
five combined hits between the two teams, but a pair of runs would be all Bradenton needed to
take a 2-0 shutout win for their sixth consecutive victory.
The Marauders were held hitless through the first few innings by Daytona, and the Tortugas
registered just one knock in the 3rd inning. Bradenton would get an electric start to the bottom
half of the fourth inning when Enmanuel Terrero shot a line drive to left to lead off the inning.
Shalin Polanco would follow up with a seeing-eye groundball single through the right side of the
infield to set the 'Ders up with men on first and second with nobody gone in the frame.
Polanco and Terrero would take off on a double steal to shoot themselves into scoring position
to give the following three men at the plate a chance to provide Bradenton with the lead.
Unfortunately for the Marauders, the next three men struck out to strand Polanco and Terrero,
and the Marauders went 0-8 with runners in scoring position in the ballgame.
The only runs and deciding runs of the game for Bradenton came off a pair of bases-loaded
walks drawn by Javier Rivas and Geovanny Planchart in the bottom of the sixth inning. The next
man up for Bradenton rolled into an inning-ending twin kill to see another scoring chance fall by
the wayside.
It was the stout pitching for Bradenton that made the difference. Alessandro Ercolani tossed
four innings in his second start of the season, striking out four Tortugas. Josh Loeschorn was
the next man up on the bump for the boys in black and gold; in three innings of work,
Loeschorn struck out four allowing just one base runner in his outing.
The Marauders turned to Yunior Thibo to finish off the Tortugas; the Dominican-born righty
struck out three in his six-out save performance to secure the shutout and lock up the 'Ders
sixth straight win.
Bradenton is guaranteed at least a split in the series with Daytona and will look to extend the
winning streak to seven on Friday night with Thomas Harrington on the hill for the Baby
Buccos. The first pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
