Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks opened their first-round, seven-game series against the Chicago Steel with a 2-0 win Thursday.
Waterloo scored late in the first period after 17 chances were turned away by Rob Madore. Mitch Ryan deflected in a chance from Vince LoVerde on the powerplay with 19 seconds remaining in the period.
After a scoreless second period, Ryan Cramer ripped in a wrist shot twelve seconds into third.
Matt DiGirolamo made 16 saves in the shutout.
The Hawks and Steel meet again on Saturday night at 7:05. Plenty of good seats are still available; playoff tickets are just a dollar more than regular season prices in each section.
