Odessa Shutout 1-0 vs Corpus Christi
October 6, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - In many ways it was deja vu from Saturday night, a goaltender's duel, a tight game, plenty of chances and a 1-0 result. But in some other ways it was completely different.
The Jackalopes fell to the Corpus Christi IceRays 1-0 on Sunday night, at the Ector County Coliseum, dropping their third straight loss on the season to the Rays.
The Jackalopes fell down 1-0 early on a power play goal by Corpus Christi and though they had some isolated chances in the first and second periods, they could not get a ton of sustained pressure as the IceRays' forecheck proved to be effective.
In the Third period though the Jackalopes found their stride. Anchored on the back end by Aaron Randazzo, the Jacks found plenty of opportunities in the third period but could not find the back of the net.
The loss puts Odessa to 3-2-1-1 on the year and 0-2-0-1 a home. However, it is still early in the season and if this weekend has proven anything it is that the goaltending and defense of the Jackalopes will allow them to compete with almost anyone in the North American Hockey League. The Jackalopes will play the IceRays again this Thursday at 7:05 pm in Corpus Christi.
