Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - It was a goaltenders duel in every sense of the word. Aaron Randazzo and Cal Sandquist made great saves look routine and impossible saves incredible. Both netminders had 27 saves by the end of 65 minutes of play. But it was Randazzo and the Jackalopes (3-1-1-1) that fell short in the shootout as they fell to the Corpus Christi IceRays (5-2-1-2) in the shootout on Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum.
Both teams had great chances to score throughout in the second of six straight meetings between the Jackalopes and the IceRays. Odessa had some great chances in front, a few odd-man rushes and even hit several posts throughout the night but they failed to convert. Both teams ended up scoreless on the man-advantage. Corpus Christi was on the power play three times, the Jackalopes two.
In overtime the Jackalopes carried most of the play and had a four-on-three man advantage but were unable to find the game winner.
In the shootout, Randazzo was strong for the Jackalopes, holding his own for the first two rounds but could not stop Cole Golden on his fore-hand backhand move. The Jackalopes were unable to score to keep the game going so had to settle for one point and their third loss on the season.
The Jackalopes will be back to the JackShack on Sunday at 5:00 pm where they will conclude their weekend series with the IceRays.
