Odds of winning a car at a pro lacrosse game - well, better than being injured on the toilet

April 17, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Washington Stealth News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - What are the odds of winning a new car in a sports-team promotion?

Well, not bad - if you're a fan of the National Lacrosse League's Washington Stealth averaging just over 4,000 per game in Everett's 8,300-seat Comcast Arena.

In fact, odds are you may win that brand-new car before being injured by a toilet seat (1 in 6,500), becoming a professional athlete yourself (1 in 22,000) or finally scoring a date with a super model (1 in 88,000).

Which is precisely why the Stealth, with the help of the Dwayne Lane Family of Auto Centers in Everett and Arlington, Washington, are offering-up a 2013 Chrysler 200 to a lucky fan attending Saturday's regular season-finale against the Philadelphia Wings.

All the Stealth want - is for fans to show up.

With Stealth attendance dipping as low at 2,663 in a game against the Minnesota Swarm in early March, odds are strong for the chance to win a new ride valued at just over $18,000.

"An $18,000 car with those odds? That's a healthier payoff than snagging a ball at a baseball game," said David Takata, president of the Washington Stealth.

After earning a post-season berth and with a home-floor playoff game on the line for the 8-7 Stealth on Saturday, attendance could move the odds - well, in line with being injured while shaving. Now pushing 1 in 6,585.

"One thing about professional box lacrosse," Takata said. "Games are fun and exciting. We're in the playoffs. And someone is going to win a 2013 Chrysler 200."

And the toilet seat odds? "Our bathrooms are safe," Takata kidded.

On Saturday, the Stealth are hoping folks in Everett take a shot on lacrosse over more conventional odds found during nine innings of baseball or even the odds-on April favorite -- an IRS audit at 1 in 175.

After all, a Stealth sell-out would still bring somewhat better chances than - wait for it - being born an albino at 1 in 9,000.

Feeling lucky?
