Swarm's Jordan Macintosh Wins Third Straight Transition Player of the Week Award
April 17, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - For the third consecutive week - and fourth time in five weeks - Minnesota Swarm transition player Jordan MacIntosh has been named the NLL's Transition Player of the Week. Minnesota leads the league with 16 NLL Player of the Week awards, and MacIntosh has collected a NLL-high five Transition Player of the Week awards this season.
MacIntosh, 23, tied a career-high of five goals in the Swarm's playoff clinching victory on the road against the Colorado Mammoth last Saturday. MacIntosh also dished out an assist, collected a game-high 12 loose balls and won 71-percent of his faceoffs (22-for-31) for the second consecutive game. The Oakville, Ontario native has already surpassed the team's record for most loose balls in a single season, breaking the mark he set last season as a rookie of 153. MacIntosh currently has 173 loose balls, which ranks second in the league. The RIT product is fifth on the team in scoring this season with 51 points (26g, 25a) and has won 54.8-percent of his faceoffs.
"I'm very proud of Jordan and how he's come along this season," Swarm associate general manager and head coach Joe Sullivan said. "He's a big reason why we've been playing so consistently as of late. We've been able to depend on him to compete in the faceoff circle and he's added another dimension to our offense with his ability to get to the net strongly. At the same time, Jordan has battled some adversity this year with his uncle passing away and he's bounced back very well. I know he's dedicating his play to his uncle and it's really nice to see good things happen to good people."
Minnesota (7-8) will finish the 2013 regular season this Saturday against the Colorado Mammoth (6-9) at The Hive. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center. Tickets to the team's final regular season game start as low as $21 and can be purchased by calling 1-888-MN-SWARM or visiting mnswarm.com.
