OC Blues Sign Jamaican International Andrae Campbell
March 17, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. - Orange County Blues FC is excited to announce the addition of defender Andrae Campbell, previously of USL side Wilmington Hammerheads FC.
"I'm elated to be a part of a club as prestigious as the OC Blues," said Campbell. "The goals and aspirations of the club for the upcoming season are in sync with my personal goals for the season, and I'm looking forward to a successful year with my new team."
During the 2015 season with the Hammerheads, Campbell appeared 25 times, playing 1938 minutes, and scoring one goal. Before signing with Wilmington in 2014, Campbell saw time with Notodden FK of the Norwegian First Division. He began representing his home country of Jamaica at the 2009 CONCACAF Championship for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifiers. He also debuted for the Senior National Team in 2009 and has since earned nine caps.
"Andrae is a top quality defender and has proved he can compete on the international stage," said head coach and general manager Oliver Wyss. "We are excited to add him to an outstanding defense that we feel can take us to the USL Championship."
After only allowing 38 regular season goals in 2015, the OC Blues proved to have one of the premier defenses in the USL. The club has already announced the return of defenders Brenton Griffiths, Jack McCracken, and Ryan Felix. With the addition of Campbell, the depth of the Blues' backline will be even stronger.
2016 Opening Night presented by Football.com is on Saturday, March 26 at 7pm at UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium. For tickets, please visit ocbluesfc.com.
