OC Blues FC to Visit Grande Sports World, Announce 2016 Preseason Schedule

IRVINE, Calif. - Today, Orange County Blues FC announced the full 2016 preseason schedule. Highlighting the preseason will be a trip to Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Arizona for a world class training experience and a dose of team-bonding to start the season.

The 2016 preseason opened last Monday at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista with a closely contested friendly against MLS side, Colorado Rapids. After three, 30-minute periods, the OC Blues fell by a score of 2-0.

On Tuesday, February 16 at CSU Fullerton's Titan Stadium, the Blues will square off against Seongnam FC of K League Classic, the top division of professional soccer in South Korea. OC Blues FC will round out February against some of the top NCAA programs in Southern California, starting with a match at the University of San Diego on February 20 and then hosting UCLA on February 28 at the OC Great Park in Irvine. Shortly afterwards, the OC Blues will return to Titan Stadium to face CSU Fullerton on March 2.

The OC Blues will depart for Grande Sports World on March 6 for a week of intense training and competition. Grande Sports World provides one of the top training facilities in the country and has been a popular practice site for numerous teams from the MLS, USL, and NASL.

"Grande Sports World is a first class soccer-specific facility which is the perfect environment for us as a team to get some more top-quality work in on the training field and play against two very good teams," said Technical Director Barry Venison. "This week away as a squad is valuable time spent together in preparation for a very exciting USL season for OC Blues FC."

The Casa Grande trip will include two contests against NASL and USL opponents. On March 7, the OC Blues FC will battle the Indy Eleven from the North American Soccer League before squaring off against fellow USL Western Conference side, Arizona United SC on March 10.

After the trip, the Blues will play another USL Western Conference opponent when the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC visit on March 18 for a match at the OC Great Park in Irvine. On the following day, the Blues visit CSU Northridge to wrap up the 2016 preseason, exactly one week prior to the 2016 home opener.

The 2016 USL regular season will kick off on March 26 at UCI's Anteater Stadium when the Blues host the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at 7pm. Season Memberships and individual game tickets are now available. For more information, please call 949-333-0418 or email seats@ocbluesfc.com.
