FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati, the new professional soccer franchise majority owned by Cincinnati businessman and philanthropist Carl Lindner III, today announced six additional players to its roster in preparation for its inaugural season which begins in March.
Leading this latest signing class is forward Luke Spencer, a former standout at Xavier University and the 23rd overall draft pick by the New England Revolution in 2013. While at Xavier, the 25-year-old Spencer was First Team All A-10 and was selected A-10 Player of the Week three times. He was also named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team and the A-10 All-Rookie Team. A graduate of Winton Woods High School, Spencer also played club soccer for Cincinnati United Premier.
Other players joining Spencer, include:
- Midfielder Jamie Dell, 22, from Toronto, a 2015 signee of the Carolina RailHawks of the North American Soccer League. Dell played collegiately at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he was CAA Player of the Week and named First Team All-CAA.
- Goalkeeper Dallas Jaye, 22, of Danville, California. Jaye appeared seven times for PDL side FC Tucson and has played internationally four times, representing Guam. He played college soccer at the University of South Florida and Xavier University. Jaye was a four-year starter with the United States Soccer Federation Development Academy and was named 2010 National Goalkeeper of the Year.
- Defender Evan Lee, 22, of Toledo. Lee played soccer at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he was First Team All-Ohio twice, First Team All-North Coast twice and Second Team All-Region twice. This is his first professional contract.
- Defender Derek Luke, 22, from Bridgewater, New Jersey. Luke played soccer at Monmouth University, where he was MAAC All-Tournament in 2014. This is his first professional contract.
- Goalkeeper Dan Williams, 27, of Boston. Williams is a familiar face to Cincinnati soccer fans, as he played in goal for the Cincinnati Saints.
This group joins 17 members of FC Cincinnati already under contract. Two additional players are expected to be signed later this week.
"This latest group of players gives our roster depth as well as leadership" said Head Coach John Harkes, a veteran of Major League Soccer and the U.S. National Team. "Local fans will enjoy seeing familiar faces like Luke Spencer and Dan Williams on the pitch here again."
FC Cincinnati will join the United Soccer League (USL) and play its season from March through September. Season and individual tickets are on sale and available at (513) 977-KICK or at www.FCCincinnati.com.
