Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced on Tuesday that Storm defenseman Jacob Obermeyer has committed to play his college hockey at Robert Morris University beginning in the fall of 2006.
Obermeyer is currently in his third season with the Storm. After playing a major role in the Storm's 2003-04 Anderson Cup championship season, Obermeyer attended Michigan Tech for one semester before returning to Kearney last December and remained with the team this season.
Obermeyer, a 6-foot, 175-pound native of Chanhassen, Minn., has played in all 58 games this season for the Storm. He has nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points. Three of Obermeyer's nine goals have come in the last five games to help the Storm clinch a spot in the USHL playoffs.
During his USHL career Obermeyer was named a league All-Star in 2003-04 and was the Defensive Player of the Week in March of 2005.
Obermeyer will join fellow Storm teammates David Boguslawski (03-04) and Jace Buzek (03-04) at Robert Morris. He is the tenth Storm player on the 2005-06 roster to commit to play Division I college hockey.
