SERIES PREVIEW: The first place Visalia Oaks (28-17/61-54) return to Recreation Park Friday to host the Modesto Nuts (20-26/54- 61) for a three game series. The Oaks conclude a four game road trip with Thursday's game in Stockton. Visalia took two of the fi rst three from the Ports with wins Monday and Wednesday. The Oaks return home with a 15-11 record at Recreation Park in the second half. Modesto is just 9-14 on the road in the second half. Through Wednesday's games, Visalia has a 2.5 game lead over the San Jose Giants for fi rst place in the California League's North Division. Modesto is in last place in the North, 8.5 games behind the Oaks.
Josh Arhart has been Visalia's hottest hitter lately. He is currently riding a 10 game hitting streak over which he is batting .439 with 4 doubles, 4 homeruns, 9 RBI and 8 runs scored. The Oaks have dominated the Nuts this season with an 8-2 record against Modesto. As a team, Visalia is batting .317/.397/.489 (AVG/OBP/SLG) against the Nuts this year. The pitching staff has also been good against Modesto with a 3.87 staff ERA, and has held the Nuts to a .225 team batting average in ten ballgames. In seven games against Modesto, John Jaso is batting .393/.452/.643 with 1 double, 2 homeruns and 5 RBI. Visalia remains among the Cal League Leaders in most offensive categories.
