The Visalia Oaks return home Tuesday after going 2-4 on a six game road trip against Inland Empire and High Desert. On the season the Oaks are 25-32, 10 games behind the division leading San Jose Giants. The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes head to Visalia after completing a 10 game homestand at 6-4. The Quakes won the last 4 games of the homestand and are 30-27 on the season, good for second place in the Cal League's South division. Rancho Cucamonga is just 3 games behind the division leading Inland Empire 66ers.
Visalia is 1-2 against the Quakes after dropping two of three games in Rancho, May 9th to 11th. The Quakes outscored Visalia 12-9 in that series. Fernando Rodriguez and Jose Arredondo, two of the three pitchers the Oaks will see this week, won the final two games for Rancho in that series.
The Oaks continue to lead the Cal League in runs (318) and homeruns (51). The Oaks team batting average (.276) is good for 3rd in the Cal League, just ahead of Rancho Cucamonga's (.275). Visalia's team ERA (5.20) is second from the bottom. The Quakes ERA (3.69) is 4th in the league and less than two-tenths of a point behind team ERA leader Lake Elsinore (3.50).
