Visalia Rawhide News Release

The Visalia Oaks (28-32) beat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (30-30) 2-1 to complete a three game sweep Thursday night.

The Oaks received another strong pitching performance. Lefty James Houser threw seven innings allowing just one run and striking out 9. Visalia pitching allowed just one run in the three game series.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings until the Oaks struck for two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Patrick Breen reached on a walk when the pitcher, Posey, put his hand to his mouth on a 3-2 count. Mark Schleicher walked to put two on with no outs. Fernando Perez laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt up the first base line advancing Breen to third and Schleicher to second. Josh Asanovich walked to load the bases with one out. First baseman Chris Nowak hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field. All three runners tagged with Breen coming in to score easily. Center fielder Josh LeBlanc's throw went to second base and squirted away from the second baseman Ryan Leahy. Schleicher broke from third and just avoided the tag at home with a beautiful hook slide to put the Oaks ahead 2-0.

Nowak finished 0-3 but had the Oaks only RBI on the sac-fly.

In the sixth inning the Quakes scored a run to cut the deficit in half. With two outs Josh LeBlanc doubled. Ryan Leahy rolled an infield single up the middle that Asanovich smothered behind the bag at second. LeBlanc hustled all the way around third and slid in safely at home right in front of the tag by catcher Joey Reiman.

The Oaks go on the road for a four game series at Stockton beginning Friday. The next home game is Tuesday, June 13th vs. Lake Elsinore.
