Oakland Roots Sports Club Announce Venue Change to CSU, East Bay for April 1st Game vs New Mexico United
March 29, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Oakland Roots News Release
We will play Saturday's game vs New Mexico United at California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California. The game will kick off as scheduled at 7:00 PM PT. Gates open to Members at 5:30 PM PT, and 6:00 PM PT for all ticket holders. We're excited to be able to play soccer this weekend in the East Bay and to bring the Oakland Roots energy back for 2023. While this is not how we intended to get our season started at home, we are excited to celebrate with the family and show our support for the team.
All tickets purchased for this Saturday's match will still be valid. We encourage fans to print their tickets ahead of the game or download them onto your phone prior to arriving at CSU, East Bay. More Game Day information to follow in the coming days.
Oakland Roots SC has made a significant commitment and investment to play in Oakland at Laney College. During the off-season, Laney College installed a new turf football field, a project that was delayed multiple weeks due to the Bay Area's continuous storms and completed late last week. Once we were able to access the field and put down our portable turf system, we found that our field is not stable on top of Laney's new turf. We continue to work through solutions with Laney College in order to resolve these issues. We made multiple other inquiries and no soccer facilities in Oakland were available.
CSU, East Bay has been home to top-level professional soccer in the past and is one of the premier sports venues in the region. Oakland Roots SC has been a close partner of the college for several years through our partnership with CSU, East Bay's Center for Sport and Social Justice (CSSJ).
Any tickets that have been purchased in advance for this game will be valid at the new venue. Oakland Roots are offering a special Buy One Get One Free offer on all GA tickets.
