Orlando Rays News Release

Jackson, TN - After letting West Tennessee snatch last night's victory from their hands, the Orlando Rays made sure this one didn't get away. Orlando exploded for five runs in the seventh inning to rally past the Diamond Jaxx for a 9-5 win Saturday.

Every player in the Rays' lineup had at least one hit, and all but two players scored at least one run. The Rays pounded out 16 hits, including two doubles each by Antonio Perez and Jace Brewer. Gabby Martinez went 3-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Matt Diaz was 3-4 with a stolen base and two RBI.

The Rays led 4-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but West Tennessee rallied for four runs, two of which came off a Mike Dzurilla home run. Orlando answered back immediately, posting a five run seventh which put the game away for the Rays. The Rays have scored 20 runs over their first three games

Alex Santos (1-0) earned the win for the O-Rays, while David Cash (1-1) was tagged with the loss for the Jaxx. Rays pitchers John Benedetti (7th), Mark Malaska (8th) and Evan Rust (9th) each tossed scoreless innings down the stretch to secure the win.

The O-Rays and Jaxx meet for the final game of the four-game set Sunday at 3:05 (E.T.). The Rays then travel to Hunstville to take on the Stars in a three-game series starting on Monday. Orlando returns home to take on the Tennessee Smokies in their 2003 Home Opener on Friday, April 11.
