Red Bull New York II News Release
ST. PETERSBURG, FL - New York Red Bulls II (3-25-6, 15 points) fell to the Tampa Bay Rowdies (20-7-7, 67 points) 1-0 on Saturday, October 15 at Al Lang Stadium in the 2022 regular season finale for both clubs.
The lone goal of the match came in the 37th minute, as Dayonn Harris sent in a ball from the far side of the field that found Leo Fernandes, who directed it into the back of the net with a header.
AJ Marcucci made his first start in net since September 3 and recorded nine saves in the contest, which is a new career high. The nine saves are tied for the most by a Red Bulls II goalkeeper this season, matching Giannis Nikopolidis on August 3 against Memphis 901 FC. It is also tied for third in club history for the most saves by a goalkeeper in a match, three behind the club record of 12, set by Evan Louro in 2017.
Marcucci is one of three goalkeepers in club history to have three or more matches in their New York career with seven-plus saves (Giannis Nikopolidis, Santiago Castaño).
The match marked New York's 253rd and final in USL Championship as the club will begin play in MLS NEXT Pro in 2023.
