
NWL Walks off against PBL in Historic Game

SPOKANE, Wash. - With Spokane Indians Yeyson Yrizarri and LeDarious Clark on base, Tri-City Dust Devil Peter Van Gansen hit a walk-off single to give the Northwest League and 6-5 victory over the Pioneer Baseball League in the first ever meeting between the two in front of 7,083 fans at Spokane's own Avista Stadium.
Van Gansen was named the NWL MiLB.com Top Star, and the Helena Brewer's David Denson was the PBL MiLB.com Top Star. Van Gansen was 1-for-2 with two walks, and Denson finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a home run to right field as a pinch-hitter.
Clark finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and two stolen bases. Yrizarri scored the winning run after drawing a walk in the ninth. Dylan Moore, Spokane's third All-Star selection, went 0-for-2 in the exhibition contest.
The Everett AquaSox's Luiz Gohara, the Seattle Mariners' No. 3 overall prospect, earned the win tossing the final 2.1 innings. NWL starter Jared Miller of the Hillsboro Hops allowed one solo home run in two innings.
Kevin Padlo of the Boise Hawks, Colorado's No. 14 overall prospect, stuffed the stat sheet with two hits, one run scored, an RBI and two walks.
Los Angeles Angels first-round pick in 2015, Taylor Ward of the Orem Owlz, hit a one-run homer in the second inning. Orem's Michael Pierson went 2-for-5 with an RBI, and the Missoula Osprey's Luke Lowery finished 1-for-3 with line drive RBI single in the eighth.
PBL starter Tanner Banks from the Great Falls Voyagers pitched one innings, allowing two hits and one run. Yeyfrey Ramirez from Missoula, a late alternate addition to the squad, struck out three batters in his 1.1 innings of work.
