After winning big last night scoring 15 runs on 15 hits on their way to a 15-6 victory in game two, the Oaks look to take the series lead by playing game three of this four game set against the Nuts. The Oaks would send out left-hander Jonathan Barratt vs. righty Alberto Arias for the Nuts.
This time it was the Nuts who jumped out quickly scoring five runs in the top half of the first as the first seven batters all reached against Oaks starter Jonathan Barratt and lead 5-0. The Oaks got two runs in the bottom of the fourth when Josh Arhart went deep with a two run shot his ninth of the year and it was 5-2. The Nuts answered with a two run homer of their own in the top of the fifth when Ian Stewart hit his 17th homerun of the year and it was 7-2.
Visalia scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth as the Oaks batted around highlighted by Joey Gomes single that drove in two and it was 7-5. After Visalia added another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one run game at 7-6, Modesto scored two more to make it 9-6. The Oaks again answered back in the same inning scoring two in the bottom of the eight as Sandy Aracena who was four for five doubled home two to pull the Oaks to within one again at 9-8. The Oaks made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth loading the bases, but came up short and lost by that final of 9-8.
Visalia and Modesto play game four on Monday the final game of the 2005 season for Visalia. The Oaks send out right-hander Jeremy Flanagan vs. righty Larry Robles for the Nuts.
