Opening Day Celebration is Just Around the Corner Experience the excitement of the 2009 Modesto Nuts baseball season during the Opening Day Celebration at John Thurman Field, this Thursday! The Nuts will take on the Bakersfield Blaze on April 9 in a 7:05 p.m. game to kick-off the 2009 season. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and pre-game festivities include face-painters, a barbershop quartet and live music entertainment, with a fireworks extravaganza set to light up the sky following the game - you don't want to miss this special evening at the ballpark!

At each Monday game throughout the 2009 season the Modesto Nuts will outline ideas from Emerzian and Bozza's book Every Monday Matters to inform fans ways they can make a difference. The first Every Monday Matters night of the season kicks off on Monday, April 13 with the Five Ways You Can Make a Difference Today. Fans who bring two items (two canned food items, two new or gently used books, two new or gently used articles of clothing, etc.) with them to the game for donation to those in need will receive a free ticket to that night's Modesto Nuts game.
