JUICE FALL IN SERIES OPENER TO MUSIC

August 2, 2007 - Macon, GA- After two days off because of rainouts the Bradenton Juice was back in action vs. the Macon Music but the Juice fell 6-1 in the series opener. The Juice mustered one fewer hit than the Music but Macon was able to take advantage of six Juice walks en route to the victory.

Macon scored first in the Bottom of the 3rd inning when Ashley Hooks hit a leadoff single and then Carlos Arroyo singled to left field. Two batters later Scott Robinson drew a walk and then with the bases loaded Casey Garrison hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Hooks putting the Music up 1-0.

The Juice tied the game in the 5th with Brenan Hererra hitting a leadoff single then Zach Woodward grounded into a fielder's choice. Up next Luke Barganier reached base on an error before Nick Corbeil singled to left field driving home Woodward tying the game at 1.

In search of their 6th straight win the Music could not be held back in the Bottom of the 5th when they scored three times. Dorian Rojas led off with a double to left field and then Scott Robinson drew a walk for the 3rd time in as many at bats. Two batters later Chris Colton hit a single to right field and with the bases full Ismael Castro smacked a single to left field scoring Rojas and Robinson putting Macon up 3-1. With Jeff Timmons at the plate new pitcher Travis Kane had Chris Colton caught off second base but his throw to second base was wide of second and Colton scored on the error giving Macon a 4-1 advantage.

The Music scored the final 2 runs of the night in the 8th with pinch hitter Travis Wiley hitting a one-out double to right field and then Carlos Arroyo singled to center field plating Wiley putting the Music on top 5-1. Two batters later Scott Robinson hit a double to left field driving in Arroyo putting Macon up 6-1.

Luke Palmer (1-2) started and took the loss for Bradenton pitching 4.1 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, walking 6 and striking out 3 batters.

Ashley Hooks (5-1) gets the win for Macon after going 7 innings, allowing 1 run (earned) on 5 hits, walking 0 and striking out 6 Juice batters.

Of note for the Juice Brenan Hererra went 2-4 at the plate with 2 singles and Zach Woodward was also 2-4 with 2 singles and a run scored.

The Juice are now 10-9 in the second half of the season 34-29 overall while Macon improves to 12-7 in the second half and 42-22 overall.

The Juice plan to send LHP Lavelle Morgan to the mound in the middle game of the series that starts at 7:05 on Friday night in Macon.
