Omaha Nighthawks News Release
The Nighthawks enjoyed beautiful weather on Tuesday by practicing for two-and-a-half hours in helmets. In addition to position drills, the team practiced some red zone situations and a little hurry-up offense.
PLAY OF THE DAY
The nod for play of the day goes to a combined defensive effort. Safety Stuart Schweigert leaped to bat a pass out of the air, and linebacker Angelo Crowell plucked the ball out of the air for the interception. The crowd of 45 on hand saw many other exciting plays though. Wide receiver Ryan Hoag caught a couple passes down the middle, from both DJ Shockley and Jeff Garcia. Quarterback Anthony Morelli also connected between the safeties with wide receiver Paul Raymond. Defensive tackle Willie Williams once again showed why he will be a force this year, getting into the backfield to make would-be big plays if the defense were allowed to hit. Running back Shaud Williams showed his shiftiness and ability to find holes on numerous occasions. Linebacker Marlon Greenwood made a nice breakup over the middle, and Jeff Souder showed good hands on a catch while tip-toeing the sideline. Garcia also had the defense fooled on a nifty bootleg that would've picked up about 25 yards.
