Omaha Nighthawks News Release
OMAHA, Oct. 1 - The Omaha Nighthawks are pleased to announce the signing of veteran running back Garrett Wolfe.
Wolfe, a third-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 2007, returns to Omaha after playing for the Nighthawks last season. Most recently, he was on the roster for the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.
The 5-foot-7, 185-pound tailback was a member of the Bears from 2007-2010. During his final three years in Chicago, he recorded 48 special teams stops. However, despite being the all-time leading rusher at Northern Illinois University with 5,164 career yards, Wolfe had few opportunities to showcase his skills on offense during his time with the Bears, carrying the ball 72 times for 282 yards and one touchdown.
After opening the 2012 UFL season with a road win against the Sacramento Mountain Lions (24-20), the Nighthawks travel to Las Vegas this week to take on the Locomotives on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PDT. Omaha's home opener is Oct. 12.
