Northern League Announces Great Plains All-Star Roster

The Northern League announced the members of the 2009 Great Plains All-Star roster for the Northern League's mid-season game between the Great Plains All-Stars and the Great Lakes All-Stars to be played July 7th at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, IL. The Great Lakes selections will be announced Tuesday, June 30th .

The "Great Plains All-Stars," comprised of players from Kansas City, Fargo- Moorhead, and Winnipeg, will be managed by Kansas City T-Bones manager Andy McCauley. The host "Great Lakes All-Stars," made up of players from Joliet, Gary Southshore, and Schaumburg, will be led by Joliet JackHammers skipper Wally Backman. Both of the rosters were selected by voting from 54 ballots (nine per franchise). Each team was free to distribute their ballots to any/all of the following: manager, pitching coach, hitting coach, general manager, media director, broadcaster(s), hometown media, and players (Veterans/LS-5/LS-4 only eligible players).

McCauley is in his 11th season as a manager and third year with the Kansas City T-Bones. He led the T-Bones to the Northern League Championship in 2008, their first since moving to Kansas City from Duluth in 2003. McCauley, whose teams have qualified for the playoffs in seven of his 10 seasons as manager, made his managerial debut in 1998 with Kalamazoo of the Frontier League.
