PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Wranglers welcome wide receiver Darren Woods Jr., to Northern Arizona, for the 2022 season.

Woods Jr. (6'2", 215 lbs.) is from Missouri City, Texas, where he played football at Elkins High School for four seasons. Woods Jr. played both wide receiver, and kicker, in high school for the Knights. Woods Jr. was named First Team All-District as a senior, as he hauled in 54 receptions, for 689 yards, and five touchdowns.

Woods Jr. attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During his senior season with the Rebels, Woods Jr. posted 24 receptions, for 355 yards, and five touchdowns. As a student-athlete, Woods Jr. was elected to represent the NCAA Mountain West Conference in the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.) In early 2018, Woods Jr. also spoke publicly at the groundbreaking ceremony for the UNLV Fertitta Football Complex.

Woods Jr. has always been passionate about participating in community service. In 2018, Woods Jr. was one of just 106 players in NCAA football to be named as a "Watch List" candidate for the Wuerffel Trophy. This is an annual award that recognizes student-athletes for excelling in school, on the field, as well as going above and beyond in community service.

Woods Jr. graduated from UNLV in 2019, with his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and media studies.

After receiving his degree, Woods Jr. played for the Jousters in the spring league. Woods Jr. recorded the longest reception from scrimmage, in the 2021 season of the spring league, as he was the recipient of a 94-yard touchdown. The Jousters also made a championship game appearance, in which Woods Jr. scored a touchdown.

Woods Jr. was inspired to play football at a young age - six years old to be exact - and is still working towards fulfilling that childhood dream. Woods Jr. stated that he is "excited for the opportunity," and that he was glad "the [Wranglers] coaches see potential in my abilities."
