Northern Arizona Wranglers Sign DB Donnell Alexander

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Wranglers welcome defensive back Donnell Alexander, to Northern Arizona, for the 2022 season.

Alexander (5'11", 183 lbs) is from Detroit, Mich., where he played football for four years at Cass Tech High School. He earned a full-ride football scholarship in his home state, playing three seasons at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Mich. Alexander chose to take a redshirt season in his freshman year. Alexander found success quickly on the field, starting six games for the Cardinals, in his sophomore season. That season, Alexander notched 26 tackles, eight pass breakups, and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Most recently, in 2019, Alexander showed out as a senior for the Cardinals, with 37 tackles, nine pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Alexander graduated from Saginaw Valley State University, in 2020, with his bachelor's degree in engineer technology management. Alexander cites his passion for the game, at a young age, as his inspiration to play football. Alexander's childhood friends, and competition, always pushed him to improve his play on the field. Playing for the Wranglers will be the first time that he has played at the professional level. Alexander stated that it "feels good" to be a professional player, and that he's excited to take advantage of the opportunity in the Indoor Football League.
