Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

Banks, 5'11", 183 lbs., will be playing his first season as a professional, in the Indoor Football League, with the Wranglers. Banks spent his collegiate career at Miami University, which is located in Oxford, Ohio. Banks became a key player for the Redhawks defense, earning the Mid-American Football Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Week award on three occasions.

Banks was the seventh leading defensive back in the nation, with five interceptions during his senior season in 2019. After his senior season, Banks earned a Pro Football Focus selection for the MAC Team of the Year. Banks was also a MAC Champion as a senior, snagging a crucial interception during that Championship victory with the Redhawks. Banks had a stellar senior campaign, as he notched 40 total tackles, 11 passes defended, five interceptions, and one tackle for loss. Banks received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and health from Miami University.

Banks is originally from Chicago, Ill., and moved to Evanston, Ill., when he was six-years-old. Banks was inspired to play football at that same age due to watching his older cousin play the sport. Banks started playing football at the age of six, and played at Evanston Township High School.

Banks is extremely motivated to continue playing the sport he loves. Banks stated, "I feel like I have still got something to prove." Banks explained that he feels that he was not given as many opportunities due to leaving college at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When addressing Wranglers Nation, Banks stated, "I am looking forward to getting into the Wranglers atmosphere." Banks has watched videos that include the environment of playing in front of the fans in Prescott Valley, Ariz., but "everything is always better in person." Banks feels that he will bring a "Championship demeanor" to an organization in search of their second straight National Title. Banks will hold himself to a high standard, knowing that all players will have to elevate their game, and play even better in 2023 to repeat as National Champions. Banks is more than ready to join the Wranglers, stating, "I will be a professional, accept the ups and downs, and just be myself."
