North Carolina Courage News Release
Cary, NC- The North Carolina Courage announced today that they have signed Brazilian star Rosana. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not announced.
The winger was signed following a trade with the Houston Dash on December 23, when the rights to Rosana were acquired in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft.
Rosana, 34, is a native of Sî=A3o Paolo, Brazil and has logged 112 appearances for the Brazilian National Team since 2000. The left winger has 21 goals for the Brazilians. She has participated in four FIFA World Cups and four editions of the Olympic Games for Brazil, winning a silver medal in 2004 and 2008.
"Rosana is a phenomenal player that has proven how lethal she can be in the US by winning a WPS championship with Sky Blue," North Carolina Football Club President and General Manager Curt Johnson said. "She is a strong and technical player and will certainly contribute to our possession in the attacking half of the field."
The winger returned to the United States in 2014 and was signed by Houston. However, Rosana was released to participate in an 18-month program with the Brazilian National Team to prepare for the 2015 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. The offensive weapon most recently played club soccer for Paris Saint-Germain of the French Division 1 Féminine. In ten matches with PSG, Rosana scored 3 goals.
Rosana joins fellow Brazilian international Debinha who was announced to the roster last week.
