
Norsemen Fall in Overtime Thriller to Bismarck on Saturday

The Matchup: St. Cloud (17-12-3) fell to the Bismarck Bobcats (24-12-0) in a one game homestand by a score of 2-1 inside the friendly confines of the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex at Torrey Arena
A Look at the Central:
Despite the loss, St. Cloud sits fourth in the Central Division behind Aberdeen, Bismarck and Minot with 44 team points. Bismarck is now only nine points behind divisional front runner Minot with 50 total points.
Series Review: Keaton Orrey (Eagan, Minn) gave STC a 1-0 lead at the 1:50 mark of the first frame. Peyton Mithmuangneua (Aldergrove, B.C.) and Gavin Gunderson (Roseau, Minn.) registered the assists. Bismarck responded with a goal from Patrick Johnson 6:50 into the second period. After a scoreless third period it was Tomas Toth who blistered a shot past netminder Max Weilandt (Northbrook, Ill.). Colgate Commit and St. Thomas Academy alum Tommy Cronin was credited with the assist on the game-winner. Weilandt made 25 saves in the loss. For Bismarck, Stephen Peck stopped 27 shots in the overtime winner.
Iron Man: Braden Panzer (Grand Forks, N.D.) skated in his 100th North American Hockey League game earlier this month.
Leading the Way: Hagen Moe (Grand Rapids, Mich.) leads the Norsemen in points with 13 goals and 18 points as he skated in 38 games this season.
Up Next on the Schedule: St. Cloud will begin the new month of February to face the Minot Minotauros at Torrey Arena on Feb. 2-3. Puck drop will take place at 7:00 p.m. (C.T.)
