Oklahoma Warriors News Release
ODESSA, Texas-The Oklahoma Warriors earned their 20th win of the season and secured a split with the Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum on Saturday.
Drew Sutton scored three goals in a 5-4 Warriors victory. Sutton, who leads the team with 42 points, picked up his second hat trick of the season and third of his Warriors career. Sutton finishes the four-game series against Odessa with five goals and seven points.
After falling behind in the first five minutes, Oklahoma used a four-goal second period to propel them in front. Sutton scored twice in the period. Max Vig and Geno McEnery recorded a goal each.
Sutton tallied his hat trick goal on a power play just 23 seconds into the third period. The goal gave Oklahoma a 5-2 lead. The Jackalopes scored twice in the final period to trim the lead to one with 10 minutes remaining. From that point, the Warriors' defense stood strong in front of goaltender Billy Stuski, who made 34 saves in the win.
The red-hot Warriors end the month of January with a 7-1 record, the best of any south division team in the month. February begins with a road series at third-place Amarillo on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3.
