Sioux Falls Skyforce centre Byron Mullens recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead his club to a 111-102 victory over Raptors 905 Tuesday night at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
It was a tight game all evening, with 23 lead changes and 13 times tied. The Skyforce led by three after one quarter, 27-24, before Raptors 905 cut the deficit to one point, 53-52, at halftime. Sioux Falls had regained its three-point lead by the end of the third quarter, 78-75, then Raptors 905 closed the gap again to send the game to overtime, tied 102-102 at the end of regulation time. Sioux Falls closed out the game on a 9-0 run, shutting out Raptors 905 in the extra period to seal the win. The Skyforce's nine-point margin of victory was its largest lead of the night, while Raptors 905 never led by more than four points.
Alongside Mullens with double digits in points for Sioux Falls was DeAndre Liggins (18), Rodney McGruder (18), Bubu Palo (18) and Tre Kelley (16). Nigel Spikes contributed a game-high seven blocks for the Skyforce. Norman Powell led Raptors 905 with a game-high 26 points and was joined in double-digit points by Ronald Roberts Jr. (21), Bruno Caboclo (17), Axel Toupane (15) and Scott Suggs (11). Roberts Jr. also had a game-high 17 rebounds, while Shannon Scott had a game-high 10 assists.
Sioux Falls outscored Raptors 905 by 15 points (25-10) from the foul line, leading the Mississauga club in free throw percentage 80.6-45.5. The Skyforce also held the advantage in second-chance points (11-8), while Raptors 905 led in three point percentage (41.7-38.7), points in the paint (48-46) and fast-break points (19-17). Both sides shot 45.1 percent from the field.
Raptors 905 is back in action Saturday, December 26 when the club visits the Canton Charge at 7 p.m. ET.
