Noise ready for training camp
October 24, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Knoxville Noise News Release
The Knoxville Noise are prepared to start their training camp for the upcoming 2006-2007 ABA season. The Noise plan to bring in 17 Players, who have either came from a tryout camp or played with the team during this past summer. The coaching staff plans to have a competitive camp that will result in 12 battle tested players making the team. They plan to start camp on October 30th that will include not only practice sessions but also physical conditioning with strength training by Jackie Ansley of Performance Inc.
Jackie Ansley is known throughout the basketball community as a no non-sense trainer who will make sure a team is conditioned when they step on the court. Sterling Henton, head of Basketball Operation for the Noise, has had first hand experience working with Jackie. "Jackie doesn't play around, you have to be mentally tough as well as physically tough to survive Jackie's workout session. She won't tolerate laziness and neither will the coaching staff. Jackie gives our coaches the luxury of working on basketball; while she gets the team in playing shape."
Coach Gerald Oliver is excited about the camp and had this to say about it. "We have some gifted players and I can't wait to start. We have been doing individual workouts for two weeks and I can't wait to get them all together. We are working to put an exciting and up tempo basketball team on the court for the Knoxville fans. We hope that when they leave our games, the fans find their self-talking about the experience to their friends and coworkers.
The following players will report to camp on Sunday the 29th:
Terrence Woods (6'3 Florida A&M), Mike Harper (6'9 Florida A&M), Boo Jackson (6'9 Eastern Michigan), Lamar Farr (6'4 Lambuth), Chris Wiley (6'0 Knoxville College), Anthony Slater (5'9 Florida Atlantic), Bakary Konate (6'9 Bowie State), Bobby Brown (6'7 Kennesaw State), Kevin McDonald (6'8 Kennesaw State), Jemere Hendrix (6'8 Tennessee), Toby Smith(6'9 Tulsa), Alex Adediran (6'8 Binghamton), Ricky Price (6'6 Duke), Keith Isom (6'0 Knoxville College), Bassamba Sao(6'6 Knoxville College), Justin Albrecht (6'7 Tennessee), Jay McMillen (6'1 UTC).
The Noise will play their first home game on November 11th against the Tennessee Mudfrogs. For more information visit the Noise website at www.knoxvillenoise.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
