Nodl named WCHA Rookie of the Week
October 17, 2006 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Former Stampede star and current St. Cloud State University left winger Andreas Nödl (pronounced New-dell), who produced four scoring points and had seven shots on goal in a two-game conference split with visiting and nationally-ranked Denver last weekend, has been named Red Baron WCHA Rookie of the Week for Oct. 17-22.
A 6-1, 198-pound freshman from Vienna, Austria, Nödl scored the game-winning goal and added an assist on the game-opening goal in SCSU's 5-2 victory over the Pioneers last Saturday night. A Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) draftee, Nödl also scored once and set up another for two points, netting a key game-tying power-play goal at 12:17 of the third period that sent the game into overtime in an eventual 4-3 setback to DU.
Nodl played in Sioux Falls from 2004-2006 recording 75 points (36g, 39a) in 102 career games and was a key part in the Stampede's first ever Anderson Cup championship and trip to the Clark Cup Finals in 2006.
