No No-No in 1-0 Loss

San Jose, CA. - Nine no-hit innings were not enough as the Modesto Nuts lost 1-0 to the San Jose Giants on Sunday afternoon at Municipal Stadium.

Three Nuts (29-22) pitchers did not allow a single hit to the Giants (22-29) until Bryan Reynolds smacked an infield single to start the bottom of the tenth against Bryan Bonnell (L, 1-1). Aramis Garcia followed with the Giants' second single before Dillon Dobson walked to load the bases.

Gio Brusa won it for the Giants with a groundball up the middle. Chris Marsical got to the ball with a dive but had no chance to get the run at the plate and the Nuts lost in walk-off fashion.

Nick Neidert started the no-hit bid with six scoreless innings. The righty walked only one while striking out nine including the last five he faced.

Spencer Herrmann followed Neidert out of the 'pen and worked two hitless innings in the seventh and eighth innings. Bonnell tossed a no-hit ninth before the Giants broke through in the tenth.

The Nuts' offense went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position against the Giants' staff stranding eleven runners on base. Conner Menez tossed 6 2/3 innings for the Giants in his start allowing just two singles with five walks and six strikeouts.

Dylan Rheault (W, 1-0) worked the final two innings for the Giants working around four baserunners.
