Colorado Mammoth News Release

Denver, Colo. - For the third consecutive game, and for the third time this month, Colorado Mammoth team captain Gary Gait has been named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week.

Denver schoolteacher Brian Langtry has been named the NLL's Rookie of the Week. It's his first time receiving the honor.

Gait scored six goals (6g, 1a, 7 pts.) and collected five loose balls in the Mammoth's 18-17 win over the New Jersey Storm Sunday in East Rutherford.

Gait leads the NLL in goal scoring with 52 goals this season and is within striking distance of breaking the league's all-time single season scoring record - a 57-goal record Gait set in 1998.

Gait, a five-time League MVP, was first named the NLL's Player of the Week in 1995.

Langtry is the Mammoth's fourth-leading scorer this season with 20 goals. He scored three goals in the game against the storm (3g, 1a, 4 pts.).

The NLL also named Curt Malawsky (Rochester Knighthawks) Offensive Player of the Week and Gord Nash (New York Saints) Defensive Player of the Week.

Both Gait and Langtry will be featured Friday night (3/28) on Fox Sports Net's "Best Damn Sports Show Period."

The Colorado Mammoth plays its last home game of the regular season Friday night at Pepsi Center against the Albany Attack. Game time is 7 p.m.
