Bakersfield, CA. - After a pair of unearned runs in the first, the Modesto Nuts' offense was quiet the rest of the night in a 5-2 loss against the Bakersfield Blaze on Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
With the game tied in the ninth, Kyle Petty walloped a walk-off, three-run homer against Devin Burke (L, 2-2) to send the Nuts (59-52; 26-15) to their second straight loss.
In the first, the Nuts plated a pair against Blaze (43-68; 17-24) starter Scott DeCecco who tossed eight strong innings with eight K's. Michael Benjamin, Jr. stole home and Rosell Herrera drove in a run with a RBI single after the inning was extended on an error.
Lefty Kyle Freeland tossed for the Nuts and worked five innings allowing only one earned run with a pair of K's and two walks.
Carlos Misell (W, 4-6) worked a 1-2-3 top of the ninth to keep the game tied for Kyle Petty's, ninth-inning heroics.
The Nuts look to avoid a series loss in game three of a four-game series against the Blaze on Saturday night.
