Bats and Bullpen Help 66ers Bounce Back

Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers bounced back after rough 15-3 loss on Thursday to down the Visalia Rawhide on Friday 8-5. Inland Empire banged out six doubles in the win and got 3.2 innings of scoreless bullpen work to even the series at a game apiece.

Inland Empire (54-55, 19-20) and the Rawhide were tied at 5-5 when Visalia handed it over to lefty reliever Steve Hathaway (4-1). 66ers RF Tyler Palmer promptly tagged a double to left and two batters later came in on Bo Way's RBI ground out to give Inland Empire the lead. The 66ers added to the lead in the seventh when Eric Aguilera drew a walk off Rawhide righty Cody Geyer and was moved to third on Brandon Bayardi's double. Kody Eaves grounded out to knock in Aguilera and Stephen McGee delivered a two-out double to cap the scoring at 8-5.

Victor Alcantara (6-9) battled through 5.1 innings for the 66ers to earn the win. He allowed five runs on eight hits with three walks and four Ks. The bullpen for the Sixers was dominant. Alan Busenitz escaped Alcantara's jam in the sixth and then tossed a scoreless seventh and eighth. In the eight he found himself in trouble but punched out Rawhide LF Daniel Palka with the bags loaded to end the frame. He went 2.2 innings allowing one hit, three walks with four Ks.

20-year-old Eduardo Paredes was called upon to close out the ninth and was dazzling. The righty from El Dividive, VZ struck out the side including DH Gerson Montilla looking to end the contest and earn his first save with Inland Empire.

Jamie Westbrook had a double and a homer, his 12th, for Visalia (68-43, 26-15). Catcher Jose Queliz had three hits for the Rawhide including two doubles. Kody Eaves and Rosa each knocked in a pair of RBI for the Sixers.
