Nine Lions Claim CFL All-Star Status

(Vancouver) A week after 12 BC Lions were recognized as West Division All-Stars, the Canadian Football League has announced its 2011 All-Stars and the Leos lead the way once more with nine players making the all-league list. Players across the CFL were selected by fans, Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches.
In total, the voting panel consisted of 62 voters, plus hundreds of thousands of fans from across Canada.
On offence, Geroy Simon earns his sixth CFL All-Star selection since 2003 while teammates Travis Lulay, Jovan Olafioye and veteran centre Angus Reid each pick up their first all-Canadian kudos.
On defence, Korey Banks locks up another CFL All-Star selection, the fourth of his outstanding career. Lineman Aaron Hunt picks up his second CFL All-Star selection while linemate Khalif Mitchell enjoys his first career selection as does linebacker Solomon Elimimian who follows up his Most Outstanding Rookie campaign from a year ago.
Of course, a media release announcing a team or league award would not be complete in 2011 if it did not contain the name Paul McCallum and so it seems only fitting that the CFL's oldest active player collects yet another honour, his second career All-Star selection and second in as many seasons.
