Richmond, VA. The ABA Maryland Nighthawks beat the Richmond Ballerz with a winning two pointer at the final buzzer Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Center, 115-113. The Ballerz took an early lead in the first quarter and maintained it throughout the second quarter going into halftime ahead 56-47. Maryland rallied back early in the third quarter and tied the game at 74 all with 3:33 left in the quarter. Both teams kept a strong momentum as the lead changed hands eight times in the second half of the game with the Ballerz taking the lead in the fourth quarter 102-94 with just five minutes left in the quarter. Maryland mounted a tenacious comeback drive with several ste3als in the backcourt, turnover scores and 3-D advantages to tie the game at 113.

With just 33 seconds left, Nighthawks Anton Jennifer stole in inbounds pass. Nighthawks Mark Karcher was blocked by Ballerz Herb Jones resulting in a turnover to the Ballerz with a pass thrown to Mario Tabron who was called for an offensive charge as he was attempting a lay up with 14 seconds left. The Ballers were led by Harold Deane with 20 poiints, Jermaine Bell with 17 and Herb Jones with 13. All three were above their season scoring average.

The Ballerz are 2-3 for the season, Maryland 5-5. The Ballerz next game is Thursday, Dec 7 versus the Brooklyn Wonders.
