NORFOLK, VA. - The Norfolk Admirals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, announced the return of forward Nick MacNeil on Tuesday, per head coach Rod Aldoff.

MacNeil, 27, will begin his fourth campaign with the organization, joining the ECHL franchise in Bakersfield at the conclusion of the 2013-14 year following a successful career at the University of New Brunswick. Over the course of the past two full seasons, the 6'4" - 212 lbs. MacNeil has totaled 93 games and amassed a total of 43 points.

"Nick's a big guy and an excellent 200-foot player," Aldoff said of the trusty center. "If we can have him healthy and confident, he's going to be a really big piece for us this year."

The Creignish, Nova Scotia native now becomes the seventh forward added to the 2016-17 roster, joining Steven Whitney, Mike Seidel, Ryan Salkeld, Alexandre Ranger, Danick Gauthier, and Josh Brittain. Aldoff is hoping MacNeil's presence will play a factor both on and off the ice.

"This is another young man who I think is a tremendous person, and everyone who I've spoken to regarding him compliments the type of person he is and the professional he is. I know he's going to come in with a new-born confidence and be an impact player for us day-in-and day-out."

The Admirals begin the 2016-17 season on Friday, October 14th against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Norfolk Scope.
